Daqing Petrochemical starts ethylene expansion project
Daqing Petrochemical, a heavyweight petrochemical arm of China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC), has recently started construction of a 1.2 million-ton per year ethylene expansion project in Daqing, the oil city in northeastern China’s Heilongjiang province. The project has been approved by the National Development and Reform Commission as an important construction project in the 11th five-year plan period (2006-2010), aiming to ease the stress on ethylene supply in the country. After completion in 2011, the project is expected to create an annual production value of 8 billion yuan (US$1.17 billion). (October 9, 2009)
