Danish inventors develop method for producing biodiesel

De Greyt Wim, Kellens Marc, Holm Hans Christian, Christensen Morten Wurtz and Nielsen Per Munk of Novozymes A/S and N V Desmet Ballestra Group SA, Bagsvaerd, Denmark have developed a method for producing biodiesel. According to the Controller General of Patents, Designs & Trade Marks: “The invention relates to the utilization of fatty materials with substantial free fatty acid content in the production of biodiesel by the use of microbial enzymes that are effective in a solvent-free process for the production of esters of fatty acids and C1-C3 alkyl alcohols.” (January 14, 2010)
