Daimler records 160% year-on-year sales growth in China
German automaker Daimler recorded sales growth of 160% year-on-year (y/y) in China during February, having sold a total of 7,200 vehicles. The automaker has revealed that its overall sales surged 155% y/y during the first two months of 2010, to more than 15,300 units. Klaus Maier, president of Mercedes-Benz (China) said Daimler expects to continue growing at a higher rate than its competitors, as well as the overall and luxury auto market in 2010. He also expects China to overtake the United Kingdom, and become Daimler’s third-largest market worldwide. (March 19, 2010)
