Customs seizes undervalued marine lubes shipment
Operatives of the Philippines’ Customs Enforcement Group (EG) seized Php15 million (US$337,679) worth of misdeclared and undervalued diesel oil that arrived in the Port of Manila. The three container vans of extra high performance diesel oil for marine application were misdeclared as containing 240 drums of ordinary marine lubricants, said Customs Deputy Commissioner Horacio Suansing Jr. The misdeclaration undervalued the shipment by as much as 52%, said Suansing. The petroleum-based products, which came from Singapore, were consigned to Powerstar Trading Inc. (December 18, 2010)
