Council backs ethanol blended fuel

Mackay Regional Council in North Queensland, Australia, is continuing its push towards green energy by making it compulsory for gasoline-powered council vehicles to use an ethanol blend when refueling. Chief Executive Officer Peter Franks said staff had applauded the change which would help reduce the council’s carbon footprint. Franks said council fuel cards will not be accepted for other fuel types and the purchase of E10 is mandatory. (November 4, 2009)
