Construction of Oxea's new specialty derivatives plant in China well on track
Oxea Advanced Derivatives’ first oxo derivatives plant at the Nanjing Industrial Chemical Park, in Nanjing, China, has successfully passed the planning stage and construction is under way. Oxea expects its new Nanjing plant to be mechanically complete by the end of 2013.
The new state-of-the-art production site will serve the fast-growing demand for oxo derivatives in China and Asia.
Oxea is a global manufacturer of oxo intermediates and oxo derivatives, such as alcohols, polyols, carboxylic acids, specialty esters and amines. These products are used among others for the production of high-quality coatings, lubricants, cosmetics and pharmaceutical products, flavorings and fragrances, printing inks and plastics.
Initially the Oxea Nanjing plant will produce specialty esters, phthalate-free plasticizers and other oxo derivatives for the local market. โBut we already have plans for new investments into the plant – along with sufficient space and resources to implement future expansions at Nanjing,” said Miguel Mantas, executive board member for marketing and sales.
“Our new plant will allow us to service the booming Asian market for plasticized PVB film, which is used in safety glass laminates for automotive, architectural, and decorative glass. And, among others, our specialty esters are important building blocks for the production of eco-efficient lubricants for compressors,” said Cristobal Ascencio, vice president of marketing oxo derivatives at Oxea.
In 2012, Oxea generated revenues of โฌ1.5 billion (US$1.93 billion) with its 1,406 employees in Europe, the Americas and Asia.
