Complaints against fuel retailer found baseless
Complaints filed by two transport companies on July 23 that the Bhutan Oil Distributors (BOD) station in Lungtenzampa, Thimphu, Bhutans capital, was selling contaminated fuel has been proven to be baseless, according to results of laboratory tests done in India. On July 23, two buses of the Dhug and Meto transport companies, bound for Trashiyangtse and Trashigang, had refueled 140 and 30 liters of diesel fuel each at the BOD. But the buses broke down as soon as it reached the bus terminal, less than a kilometer away from the fueling station, according to the bus drivers. Samples from the fuel tank of the passenger bus and from the underground tank of the fueling station were collected for testing. The tests were done at the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) laboratory in Siliguri, West Bengal, from July 2631. The results confirmed that the quality of the fuel samples met the specifications, trade officials said. (August 6, 2007)
