Clariant to partner with Elevance on bio-based additives

Clariant International Ltd., a specialty chemical supplier, said it will partner with technology firm Elevance Renewable Sciences Inc., to develop bio-based plastic additives. Bolingbrook, Ill.-based Elevance uses olefin metathesis to create ingredients for use in personal care products, detergents, fuels, lubricants and other specialty chemicals markets. The partnership will combine Clariant’s market knowledge and formulation development experience with Elevance’s unique technology for renewable additives. Andy Shafer, executive vice president of sales and market development for Elevance said, “This is the beginning of a collaboration that can bring renewable solutions with enhanced performance to the market today and expand significantly over the next three to five years.” (July 14,2011)
