City University helps to set up biofuel center

The first biofuel research centre in Hong Kong has been established thanks to a partnership with Edinburgh Napier University. The center, set up by Napier and the City University of Hong Kong, will be the first of its kind in Hong Kong. It will address the rising global demand for sustainable and non-fossil-based fuels, and Hong Kong’s urgent need to develop sustainable solutions to accommodate its ever-increasing volume of waste matter. The new center will focus on the development of renewable energy via second-generation biofuels from a diverse range of non-food crops and waste matter. (February 1, 2010)
