Choren Industries declares insolvency
Choren Industries GmbH, a German second generation biofuels company which is currently building the country’s first plant to produce biofuels from second generation of biomass raw material, has declared insolvency. Kanzlei Kuebler, the company’s interim insolvency administrator, indicated that the firm’s financial problems are connected to the start-up of the company’s test plant. The test plant at Freiberg in Germany is to produce 15,000 tons per year of biomass to liquid fuel using wood products and wood-based waste. The company is continuing to operate while seeking new investors to assist with the company’s financial difficulties. Choren’s subsidiaries in China and the United States are not part of the insolvency declaration. (July 8, 2011)
