Chinese consumers developing appetite for German-made luxury cars

Chinese consumers are becoming more interested in quality luxury cars with solid safety standards as incomes rise. German automotive company Mercedes Benz has established a solid reputation among affluent consumers in China and the company’s sales reflect the population’s growing interest. Mercedes sales in China are up 74% in February versus the same period a year ago to 12,580 cars. In the first two months of 2011, sales are up 82% year—on-year, with total sales above 27,900 units. Mercedes Benz plans to launch new alternative fuel models in China to keep its momentum going. (March 10, 2011)
