China's SAIC to enter foreign market

Officials of the Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. (SAIC), a Chinese automaker said that the company was confident that it could export its own-brand of vehicles to European countries in the near future. SAIC’s likely exports will be three Roewe models based on the MG Rover designs acquired when the company integrated the operations of a domestic competitor, Nanjing Automobile (Group) Corp., in 2007. SAIC has also begun production at acquired MG Rover facilities in the U.K., which will make cars under the MG Rover brand. (July 10, 2008)
