China to introduce EV charging facility guidelines

China is drafting guidelines for an electric vehicle (EV) charging network in the country, which will be announced by the end of 2010, according to local newspaper China Securities Journal. An official from China’s National Energy Administration (NEA) said the upcoming rules will include standards on the construction, design, operation and maintenance of EV charging facilities in the country. The NEA has so far announced three standards in this regard, which will be implemented from October 1, and another five will be added later this year. The newspaper added that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) is currently drafting standards on electric vehicle (EV) batteries, which will be in line with the NEA standards on charging facilities.
