China to delay standard for methanol blends

China is unlikely to unveil its national standard for auto-use methanol blends gasoline until after the year-end, later than originally scheduled. A change of heart was cited as among the reasons, with the new focus being ethanol-blended gasoline, instead of methanol-blended gasoline. Suggestions from experts are being solicited for a special report on ethanol-ether fuels and the national standard (GB) on methanol gasoline may be released within the year, said Rong Huikang, vice director of the Ethanol-Ether Fuels and Green Autos Commission.
