China proposes to raise non-state fuel import quotas

China has proposed raising the fuel oil import quota for companies in the non-state-designated sector to 14.09 million metric tons for 2010, from 11.25 million metric tons this year, the Ministry of Commerce (Moc) said. The draft document posted on the MoC website did not mention any quotas for other oil product imports by non-state-controlled oil companies in 2010. The proposed 2010 quota is different from MoC’s practice in the past, when it issued an overall annual quota for imports of gasoline, jet fuel, gasoil, naphtha, fuel oil and low-sulfur waxy residue.
