China posts energy efficiency gains
China said that it reduced the amount of energy used to produce each unit of economic output last year by more than it had previously estimated. The National Bureau of Statistics said that the country’s energy use per unit of gross domestic product fell by 3.66% in 2007, an improvement on its earlier estimate of 3.27%,which meant that the worlds second-largest energy consumer used 1.160 tons of coal.
