China May exports of diesel oil, gasoline fall from April
China’s export of diesel oil in May plunged 23 percent from the historical high in April and its export of gasoline also dropped slightly as oil refineries added stockpiling in the month after large-scale use of reserve in the preceding months. However, the export of diesel oil and gasoline posted a big rise on a year on year basis because China was setting up the fuel inventory in May of last year to ensure a sufficient supply in the August Beijing Olympic Games. According to the data released by the General Administration of Customs, China exported 310,292 tons of gasoline in May, more than doubling that of a year ago, and its export of diesel oil also proliferated by eight-plus times year on year to 393,848 tons. The country’s kerosene export in May was 383,177 tons, down 18 percent year on year. Meanwhile, China’s import of crude oil went up 5.5 percent to 1.709 million tons; that of fuel oil, sank 18 percent to 2.36 million tons; that of gasoline, 108 tons; and that of diesel oil, plummeted 81 percent to 130,191 tons.
