China Fujia Dahua completes Dalian plant
China’s first privately-run petrochemical company Fujia Dahua Petrochemical Co. completed the construction and installation of its aromatics plant at Dalian, a company source said. Its aromatics complex will have a capacity to produce up to 700,000 metric tons per year (mtpy) of paraxylene, 350,000 mtpy of benzene and 100,000 mtpy of orthoxylene. Commercial production is expected to start in the first quarter of 2009 and Fujia Dahua expects revenues of 22 billion yuan (US$3.2 billion) for the first year. Most of the paraxylene output from the new plant will be for China’s domestic market, with a large portion expected to go to purified terephthalic acid producers in east China. (November 19, 2008)
