China Agri-Industries builds ethanol plant

China Agri-Industries Holdings Limited plans to build and operate a non-grain-based ethanol project with an annual production capacity of 100,000 tons in Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province. The project will use sweet potato to produce fuel ethanol. The plan is currently waiting for approval from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC). The Xuzhou government agreed to give the company preferential treatment, including supply of water and electricity, tax concessions and land usage. (July 12, 2007)
