Chery Auto Vows to Roll Out Hydrogen Cars in 3 Years
Chinese ambitious carmaker Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. vows that it will try to roll out hydrogen-driven cars in three years, as a diversified solution for energy shortage. Yuan Tao, vice general manager of Chery, stresses that the company has solid confidence in making important breakthrough in the hydrogen vehicle field in three years. As a pilot in China, Chery teamed up partners to do research and development on pure hydrogen-driven engine and announced the first successfully-working one in 2005. Besides the hybrid cars and electric cars, Chery has not paid less attention on energy saving attempts in the traditional field. In fact, the research and development on turbine pressers, and the use of methane and hydrogen has been always going on. In a global view, BMW and Mazda are the leaders in hydrogen-driven cars and have realized the dual-fuel supply to auto engine to enable the car to be powered by gasoline and hydrogen either.
