Chemrez plans third CME plant

Chemrez, Inc., based in Quezon City, Philippines, plans to build a third coconut methyl ester (CME) plant once demand for biodiesel increases with the implementation of a Philippine law mandating the blending of CME in diesel fuel, says Dean A. Lao, Jr., chief operating officer. The plant will be in addition to the two existing facilities located in Libis, Quezon City, and will have the capacity to produce 180 million liters a year, three times the size of its second plant. The second facility, with a capacity of 60 million liters a year, is considered the largest and most modern CME manufacturing facility in Asia.  (December 11, 2006)
