Changchun aims to become China's largest auto production base
Changchun, the capital city of Northeast China’s Jilin Province, is aiming to build the country’s largest auto production base by optimizing its auto parts production structure. The city will increase the value of its auto parts by 100 billion yuan (US$14.6 billion), and engine and transmission capacity each by one million units, totaling to a 2 million-unit increase. The annual output value of the auto parts industry in Changchun is expected to increase to 106 billion yuan (US$15.4 billion) by 2012, presenting an annual growth of about 20%, including 26 billion yuan (US$3.79 billion) from engine projects, 30 billion yuan (US$4.3 billion) from transmission projects, 10 billion yuan (US$1.46 billion) from auto chassis projects, and 40 billion yuan (US$5.8 billion) from other auto parts projects.
