Cerradinho looks to double crush capacity
Cerradinho, a Brazilian sugar and ethanol company, said it is looking to expand crush capacity to 8 million tons per year at its Porto das Aguas mill in Goias over the next seven years at a cost of US$400 million. Currently, the mill has a crush capacity of 3.3 metric tons per year of sugarcane. Recently, the company sold two of its mills for US$950 million to the Noble Group of Hong Kong. In another announcement, Cerradinho said the company will be changing its name to Cerradinho Bioenergia to reflect its new investment in bioelectricity. (June 2, 2011)
