Cargill to build first biodiesel plant in Argentina

U.S. commodities giant Cargill is investing 450 million Argentinian pesos (US$114.4 million) to build its first biodiesel plant in Argentina,along with a power plant. The Minnetonka, Minnesota-based company has already started construction of the facilities at its agribusiness complex in Villa Gobernador Galvez in the central province of Santa Fe, with the aim of starting operations in September 2011. The power plant will have 18 MW of capacity and will supply Cargill’s complexes in Villa Gobernador Galvez and Punta Alvear. The power plant will run on steam captured from the biodiesel production process. (August 13, 2010)
