Canada to require 2% renewable fuel blend in diesel fuel, heating oil
Canada will require all diesel fuel and heating oil to contain a 2% blend of renewable fuel effective July 1. Peter Kent, the country’s environment minister said, “Our government will continue to ensure that protecting our environment, while balancing economic growth and prosperity remains our priority. The steps we are taking on renewable fuels, combined with those of the provinces, will ensure a volume of renewable fuel that will reduce annual greenhouse gas emissions by about four mega tonnes a year-the equivalent of removing one million vehicles from the road.” The new renewable fuel requirement is a regulatory amendment to the Renewable Fuels Regulations.
