Cambodia to build first auto assembly plant

Cambodia’s first automobile assembly plant, a joint venture between local manufacturer Camco Motor Co. and South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor Co., is set to start operations by mid-2010. The facility, which is still under construction in the Special Economic Zone in Koh Kong province, has been invested with US$60 million by the two companies and is intended to meet demand in Cambodia and other Southeast Asian markets.
