Caltex Kurnell refinery to close in 2012
The closure of two plants at the Caltex oil refinery at Kurnell in New South Wales could result in the loss of 30 jobs but in a statement to the stock exchange, Caltex said that it would “seek to redeploy those people where possible.” Caltex will close its propane de-asphalting unit by the end of 2012, and the refinery’s leading fluidized catalytic cracking unit will be shut down in February 2013. The two units had been operating well below capacity due to lower demand for gasoline. (November 2, 2011)
