Caltex expands storage capacity in Queensland
Caltex Australia announced that it will officially open a new 27-million liter diesel fuel storage tank in Mackay, Queensland. Construction of the tank was reportedly completed in 2009, and is part of a larger Mackay terminal upgrade which also includes an ethanol blending facility. Mike Raleigh, national manager for distribution, said “Industry growth is at an all-time high in the Bowen Basin and Caltex is committed to keeping those industries moving with reliable, cost-efficient supply.” The company has said that work will soon start on a second 27-million liter diesel fuel tank at the Mackay terminal, with the Gladstone terminal also benefiting from the construction of a 15-million liter tank later this year. Both projects are subject to regulatory approvals and are due to be completed in 2011. (March 10, 2010)
