CADE postpones review of Shell and Cosan merger
Brazil’s Administrative Council for Economic Defense or CADE, said it will postpone its review of the merger between Royal Dutch Shell plc and Cosan, a Brazilian sugar and ethanol producer. The Council has requested more information from the companies. CADE is reportedly concerned that the ethanol joint venture between Cosan and Shell will leave the country with only Shell and BR Distribuidora as fuel suppliers in the country. (June 30, 2011)
