Bunge Brasil receives authorization to begin operations
Brazil’s Official Gazette reported that Bunge Brasil had been authorized by Brazil’s oil sector watchdog Agência Nacional do Petróleo (ANP) to start operations at its newly-built biodiesel plant in Nova Mutum, in the central-western Mato Grosso state. In April 2011, ANP approved construction of the plant, which was designed to produce 413.79 cubic meters (14,613 cubic feet) of biodiesel per day. Total investment for the project was estimated to reach BRL60 million (US$29.6 million)
Bunge Brasil is the local unit of the U.S. oilseed processing firm Bunge Ltd. The new venture marks Bunge Brazil’s entry into the country’s biodiesel segment. The company has yet to receive authorization for the commercialization of biodiesel that will be produced at the new unit. (October 19, 2012)
