Bumper-to-bumper fuel economy
Ian Bell, who is the director of engine oils R&D at Afton Chemical Corp., will present a framework and supporting specialized tests that lead to advancements in measurable energy and fuel economy savings, at the 19th Annual Fuels & Lubes Asia Conference. The conference is being held at the Hilton Millenium in Bangkok, Thailand, from March 13-15, 2013.
Bell’s presentation will include findings gained from the Afton-Artemis Continuous Aging Fuel Economy (AA-CAFE) test, which takes into account various energy-related factors, including: fuel quality and resulting engine cleanliness, fuel additive technology, transmission fluid performance profiles, and the stability of viscosity and friction modifiers in engine oils.
By approaching the topic of fuel economy from a “bumper-to-bumper” perspective, Afton Chemical is able to apply energy savings projections to both the existing and new global vehicle fleet. The knowledge gained from the AA-CAFE test offers actionable insights to hardware manufacturers and oil companies, as the global transportation industry works towards achieving evolving emission targets.
