BRPL: To build diesel hydrotreatment plant by Oct

India’s Bongaigaon Refinery & Petrochemicals Ltd. said it will finish its plant by October 2009. Its Rs16.46 billion (US$330.3 million) diesel hydrotreatment plant will be commissioned in the last quarter of the next financial year that begins April 1, the company’s finance director noted. The plant is an expansion within the existing Bongaigaon Refinery complex at Dhaligaon in the northeastern state of Assam. The company’s new plant would help them meet Euro III and Euro IV quality specifications,. as the federal government plans to implement Euro IV emission norms for four-wheeled vehicles in 11 major cities and Euro III standards across the country from April 2010. The completion of the plant, Bongaigaon said, would reduce its capital expenditure plans for the next financial year to Rs5.61 billion (US$112.6 million) compared with Rs6.50 billion (US$130.4 million) this year. The refiner invested more than 92% of its total capital expenditure in the current financial year on the plant. (March 19, 2009)
