Briggs & Stratton acquires Brazil’s Branco
Briggs & Stratton Corporation, an American company that manufactures engines and related parts, announced the purchase of Companhia Caetano Branco, a Brazilian power and construction equipment supplier. Briggs & Stratton paid US$57 million in cash from its cash reserves to cover the purchase price. The company said it did not expect the acquisition to materially affect its revenues and earnings in 2013.
Since 1936, Branco has been supplying the Brazilian market with engines and generators for outdoor power equipment and light construction gear. The company employs about 150 people and has a dealership network of more than 1,200 facilities. (December 10, 2012)
