Brazil’s biodiesel output to increase by 26%
New plants and expansions in the pipeline in Brazil could result in a 26% increase in the country’s biodiesel production to 23,606 cubic meters per day (m3/d). Last year’s authorized capacity from 65 plants reached 18,727 m3/d. Brazil has authorized the construction of 10 plants which will have a combined output of 4,038 m3/d, and the expansion of eight plants for an additional combined output of 840 m3/d. The Agência Nacional do Petróleo, Brazil’s regulatory agency which oversees activities of the oil, natural gas and biofuel industries in the country, said that it is reviewing 11 new plant construction and 12 plant expansion requests.
