Brazil Raises Biodiesel Additive To 4% Of Diesel Fuel

Brazil’s National Energy Policy Council, or CNPE, has authorized the increase of biodiesel to 4% of diesel fuel from 3% currently, Energy Minister Edison Lobao said Tuesday. The increase will take effect July 1. Brazil first introduced biodiesel into its diesel mix in January 2008 with a 2% addition. Lobao said the government plans to raise biodiesel content to 5% of diesel fuel by 2010. (June 24, 2009)
