Brazil-Japan Ethanol to sell 2,500 KL of E3

A 50-50 joint venture (JV) between Brazilian state-owned oil company Petrobras and Japan Alcohol Trading aims to sell 2,500 kiloliters (15,725 barrels) of 3% ethanol-blended gasoline (E3) in the greater Tokyo area in fiscal 2009-2010 (April-March) under a pilot project sponsored by Japan’s Environment Ministry, a ministry official said. Brazil-Japan Ethanol (BJE) will sell the E3 gasoline “at more than six service stations” in the greater Tokyo area. Experimental sales of E3 are part of an on-going Environment Ministry pilot scheme that began in 2007 and will continue till March 2012, the official said. (July 22, 2009)
