Brazil changes classification for ethanol

Brazil’s government has changed the classification of ethanol from agricultural commodity to fuel. The government also approved a change in the amount of ethanol admixture in gasoline between 18% to 25%. The change is in response to the increasing costs of ethanol. In light of these changes, flexible fuel cars which can run on ethanol or gasoline are increasing are becoming more popular in Brazil. (August 19, 2011)
