Brazil boosts imports of diesel fuel to meet growing demand
Brazil is increasing imports of diesel fuel from North Asia diesel to meet strong industrial demand. At least 350,000 tons of diesel fuel from South Korea and Taiwan have been booked for shipment to Brazil for loading in the past month. The latest cargo is for 80,000 tons for July 8 loading. Demand for diesel fuel in Brazil grew 11.2% in 2010 to about 850,000 barrels per day as the economy grew by 7.5%. Brazil is highly dependent on trucks to move goods. In the past, Brazil mostly imported fuel from the United States but its growing economy has caused the country to look for additional import sources. (July 4, 2011)
