BP's E10 hits milestone

BP commemorated the sale of its 100 millionth liter of 10% ethanol-blended gasoline (E10) on May 24 with Queensland’s Minister for State Development, John Mickel, saying the milestone had been reached without a single complaint from any customer. Mickel said BP since 2002 had rolled out its E10 standard unleaded gasoline in 58 service stations across Queensland, Australia, representing 95% of BP’s E10 production. The company says it plans to expand the rollout of its ethanol-blended unleaded fuel to another 25 service stations in Queensland before the end of the year. The move will enable the company to triple its sales of E10 fuel in the state compared to 2006, BP Bulwer Island Refinery’s Managing Director Kathy Hirschfeld said. The state government plans to make it compulsory for all service stations to market at least a 5% ethanol blend by 2010. (May 31, 2007)
