BPCL to commission Bina refinery by 2009
State-run Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. plans to commission its much-delayed Rs10,000 crores (US$2.25 billion) Bina refinery in Madhya Pradesh by the end of 2009, to push up refining capacity under its belt to 30 million tons. The company also plans to raise its Mumbai refinery capacity to 12 million metric tons per annum (MTPA) from the current 10.3 million MTPA and expand its Kochi refinery to 9 million MTPA from the current 7.5 million MTPA. The company also proposes to complete the 1,000 km Vadinar-Bina pipeline and the Mumbai-Delhi pipeline with a small pipeline from Kota to join the latter very soon. (December 19, 2006)
