BP Zambia becomes Puma Energy Zambia

BP Zambia Plc has changed its name to Puma Energy Zambia Plc, as part of the company’s acquisition by Puma.  The new company announced there will be an extensive rebranding program that will be launched over the next six months at a cost of US$3 million. This new program will begin at BP retail stations on July 1, 2011.  Jacob Sikazwe, Puma Energy chairman, said the company’s plan is to grow and invest in new retail outlets and in lubricants.  Sikazwe said the company has invested approximately US$600 million in Africa.  Puma acquired BP’s African shares for Botswana, Malawi, Namibia, Tanzania and Zambia.  Puma Energy is a subsidiary of Trafigura Group, an independent commodity trader.
