BP continues retreat from green energy projects
BP signaled a further retreat from its international renewable business by announcing it was selling off its wind farm operation in India. The multinational oil company, which recently shut down its alternative energy headquarters in London, said it would concentrate its wind energy interests in the United States. The oil company controlled a relatively modest 100 megawatts of power in locations such as Maharashtra. The company will continue with its solar power joint venture in India and said it had no intention of selling any of its petroleum-related businesses there. (September 17, 2009)
