BP Biofuels announced its plan to invest US$350 million to expand the ethanol processing facility of Tropical, one of its sugarcane processing ventures in Brazil. The expansion includes construction of a new mill that will double the processing capacity to five million tons of sugarcane which can in turn produce 450 million liters of ethanol each year. Target date for the mill’s operation at full capacity is end of 2014 or early 2015. This expansion is expected to create a total of around 7,850 direct and indirect jobs.
