Boeing unveils 3rd 787 training facility in Singapore
Aircraft manufacturer Boeing has unveiled its third 787 training facility in Singapore, as the clock ticks down to the first delivery of the much-delayed aircraft dubbed the Dreamliner. Boeing Flight Services Vice President Sherry Carbary said having two 787 training suites in Singapore, alongside one in Shanghai and two in Tokyo, reflected the large orders of the new aircraft from carriers within the Asia-Pacific region. “We want to bring the training closer to where their home bases are,” she said, which would save airlines time and money. The other training sites are located in London (Gatwick) and Seattle. Some 55 airlines around the world have ordered 847 of Boeing’s newest aircraft. (September 30, 2010)
