Boeing to double raw material purchase from China by 2015
U.S.-based Boeing Corp. will double its purchases of raw materials and services from Chinese suppliers by the year 2015, according to the General Manager of Boeing Tianjin Composites in China, Gary Baker. The company’s production capacity will double by 2013, he said. Currently, the company purchases US$200 million worth of raw materials from Chinese suppliers on an annual basis. Boeing is currently the largest consumer of airplane parts produced in China. Boeing Tianjin Composites produces components for all of Boeing’s in-production programs, including the 737, 747-8, 767, 777, 787 and Brazil-based Embraer CF34-10. (May 12, 2011)
