BMW Brilliance to kick off construction at Shenyang plant

BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd. is scheduled to kick off the construction of its second car plant in October. The plant, located in Shenyang, capital of northeast China’s Liaoning province, will cover a land area of about 400,000 square meters. In addition, the second phase of the plant is scheduled to start construction before the year ends and is expected to boost the company’s annual production capacity to 80,000 units in total. Once completed, the plant will be mainly used to produce BMW-branded cars, including the next generation BMW 5 series sedans. In addition, Brilliance Auto’s self-branded Zhonghua sedan model will be produced in the plant. (September 10, 2008)
