Bioverde plant to retrofit to up biochemical output
Bioverde, the Brazilian biodiesel producer, said it is retrofitting its Sorocaba biochemicals plant to initially produce 100 million liters per year of bio-chemicals. The retrofitting of the plant will cost the company US$95.1 million. The Sorocaba plant will use vegetable oils as feedstock. The revamping of the plant is expected to be completed this year. Annual output is expected to increase from 100 million liters in 2013 to 400 million liters of biodiesel and 400 million liters of biochemicals eventually. The company sold 15 million liters of biochemicals produced from its plant in Taubate, Sao Paulo, last year. (July 14, 2011)
