Biofuels Intl. to build plant in Negros Occidental
Biofuels International Philippines Inc. (BIPI) and a group of foreign investors have signed a joint venture agreement to construct an ethanol plant that will cost an estimated Php3-5 billion (US$63.79-106.32 million), in Murcia, Negros Occidental. According to BIPI President Roberto Montelibano, the ethanol plant is designed to simultaneously process sugarcane and sweet sorghum and will use agricultural wastes as fuel. Its annual production is projected at 45 million liters of alcohol and 95,000 megawatts of electricity, he said. (November 26, 2009)
