Biofuel station opens in New Zealand
New Zealand’s first public biodiesel consortium and refueling operation was launched in Queenstown by Energy Efficiency Conservation Authority Chief Executive Mike Underhill. The consortium was initiated and developed by Otago Polytechnic’s Center for Sustainable Practice in collaboration with a group of tourism operators. Spokesman Steve Henry said they hoped to have 100 vehicles refueling there within a month. Thirty Queenstown business operators are already on board for the 12-month pilot program and will initially run their vehicles on 20% biodiesel blend (B20).The aim is to have a 100% blend available in the future.
