Bioethanol plant to rise in Hull
BP Plc, Associated British Foods (ABF), and DuPont announced in late June plans to build a US$400 million bioethanol plant in Hull, northern England. BP and ABF subsidiary British Sugar will each own 45% of the plant, while DuPont will own the remaining 10%. Construction of the plant, which will be located on BP’s existing chemical site, could begin in early 2008. It is estimated to produce around 420 million liters, or 111 million gallons, of bioethanol from wheat feedstock. The bioethanol plant will employ about 70 people. (July 5, 2007)
